Carrara and the world of marble (guided tour only)

Fifty miles north from the port (one hour drive) lies Carrara, famous worldwide for its marble quarries, exploited since roman time, where Michelangelo and Canova used to take the raw material for their works, today used to furnish the most luxury buildings. 

Take the chance to visit a quarry in activity with an expert guide, who will explain every step of the digging process, along with a sculpture atelier, where skilled artists transform it into pieces of art, or a marble workshop, where it is worked for architectural purpose.
